Our Legal Initiative

Our Legal Initiative is a collective effort focused on empowering marginalized communities, including Dalits, SCs, STs, and minority groups, through legal awareness, advocacy, and capacity-building. Our goal is to foster a society where legal rights and justice are accessible to all, particularly those who are underrepresented and vulnerable.

We work closely with legal professionals, grassroots organizations, and community leaders to provide resources, guidance, and platforms that amplify voices and create impactful changes.

Key Activities

Legal Awareness Camps

We organize legal awareness camps in rural and urban communities to educate people about their legal rights, focusing on:

  • Fundamental Rights
  • Domestic Violence Act
  • POCSO Act
  • SC/ST Act
  • Filing FIRs and Accessing Legal Aid

Recent camps included:

  • A legal awareness program in Bakhari village, Sitamarhi district, emphasizing Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s philosophy, education, and empowerment.
  • A session in Patna with around 70 women, discussing domestic violence, fundamental rights, and practical legal procedures.

Capacity-Building Training

Our Legal Initiative conducts training programs for lawyers, volunteers, and community members to strengthen legal knowledge and advocacy skills.

Notable sessions:

  • A workshop at Hotel Golden Palm, Patna, focusing on the SC/ST Act and self-care.
  • A training in Sitamarhi for advocates to deepen understanding and practical applications of legal frameworks.

Empowering Advocates

We are committed to improving the representation and working conditions of Dalit and minority advocates. Through research, policy discussions, and training, we aim to foster a more inclusive legal system.

A highlight is our ongoing study analyzing challenges faced by these advocates, with findings discussed in capacity-building workshops.

Youth and Community Engagement

Our initiative actively collaborates with young leaders, particularly women and girls, through the Parwaz Women Network. By integrating legal awareness with broader discussions on education, health, and rights, we inspire communities to stand against social injustices.

Recent activities include:

  • Launching Ambedkar Pathshaala in Sitamarhi, creating educational opportunities for youth.
  • Hosting Constitution Day celebrations with awards for young leaders.

Strategic Campaigns

Key campaigns include:

  • Designing and rolling out Membership ID cards to strengthen our network.
  • Finalizing and implementing organizational bylaws to enhance the structure and impact of our initiative.
