Reshma Khatoon, originally from North Dinajpur, West Bengal, moved to Patna in March 2023 to work as a waitress at the IRCTC Food Track Restaurant. There, her employer, Sher Khan, exploited her on the false promise of marriage. When she demanded accountability, he refused and terminated her job.
Despite possessing evidence, her repeated attempts to lodge an FIR at GRP and Phulwarisharif police stations were ignored. In 2024, she turned to the Bihar Legal Network (BLN) for support. BLN assisted with documentation, provided legal representation, and successfully opposed Sher Khan’s anticipatory bail.
After nearly two years of struggle, Reshma’s FIR was finally registered with BLN’s intervention, and legal proceedings are now underway. Her case stands as a testament to the importance of sustained legal aid in securing justice against systemic barriers.
