Puja Rani, a former orchestra dancer from Ghaziabad, was lured to Bihar under the false promise of marriage by a man who unofficially married her and later forced her into prostitution. Over time, he exploited her financially, stealing nearly ₹10 lakhs of her savings before absconding. When she tried to seek justice, her attempts to file a case were repeatedly dismissed, as authorities showed deep prejudice against her profession, leaving her with no legal recourse despite the gravity of the exploitation she faced.
Her struggle for justice took a new direction when she approached the Bihar Legal Network (BLN). The team intervened by escalating her matter to higher authorities, ensuring the registration of her FIR and submission of evidence, thereby breaking through systemic bias that had silenced her earlier. With BLN’s intervention, her case is now under trial, marking a significant step toward justice. Puja’s journey reflects the power of legal aid in challenging discrimination and restoring dignity to survivors of exploitation.
